Hi friends!

Long time no talk! It’s December, and I wanted to do a little makeup challenge for the month! I HOPE I end up sticking to posting the details on my looks here. The main part of the challenge takes place on Instagram, if you want to participate, you can take this photo below and post it up on your account! I have another photo that’s floating around that doesn’t have my username on it because I’m an idiot, so PLEASE use this one! =D

Like I said I’ll be (hopefully) posting details here so if you just want to see how each look turns out, you can follow me on here (or Instagram) to keep up! If I get requests I may do a few tutorials for the month, but we’ll have to see how busy I am!

Quick Little Update… (and a Tip!)

Hi Friends!

I’ve been absent the past few weeks. I’m well aware of that. What started out as being sick last Monday ended up in me taking a break from posting, just to make sure I don’t drive myself into the ground, having posting become a chore more than a hobby. That’s not what either of us want from the site. I love you all and thank you for sticking around even when the posting has been minimum.

With that said, let me leave you guys with a little tip…

Something to throw into the mascara files! (Even though it isn’t Wednesday)

Ladies and Gents, with summer coming up I must stress the importance of this. Please, do not use waterproof mascaras as your every day mascara.

Why you ask? Let me tell you!

Waterproof mascara is meant to be exactly what it says, waterproof. It’s there for long wear, and survives through thick and thin. Sounds great, so whats the problem? It’s a little too hard to get off. Waterproof mascara even has to be scrubbed off with makeup removers, so it’s not ideal for every day wear. It’s easy to miss bits of it, so you can get build up, and the scrubbing is harsh around your eye area. So when you reach for your waterproof mascara this summer, ask yourself, do you really need it?

The Mascara Files: “They’re Real!” Travel-Sized Mascara 100 Points at Sephora!

themasscarapost9

Hi friends!

The title says it all!

Benefit’s They’re Real Mascara is only 100 points for Beauty Insiders at Sephora for the month of June! I’ve used it before, I’m not entirely sure it’s waterproof or not but it’s definitely water resistant. It’s a good one for summer, but keep in mind you’ll need a good makeup remover to get it fully off.

You can be a Beauty Insider for free you just have to sign up either in store on at Sephora.com. Keeping in mind that summer is coming up, there are also 9 free sunscreen samples if you order from the Sephora website right now. Needless to say, if you’ve been holding off on getting an order, now is a great time to do so!

The Mascara Files: Skip the line!

themasscarapost9

Hi friends!

Not past 12:00 in my timezone so YAY it’s still Mascara Files day! Today I want to mention something that you possibly haven’t considered before if you are a huge eyeliner wearer like I used to be. To get the most out of your mascara, by which I mean the most dramatic lengths and volume, skip the eyeliner, or even take baby steps and tone it down!

I’m not telling you to go throw all your eyeliner in the garbage and never use it again, that’s silly, but if you want people to notice those big lashes you have from all the tips you’ve acquired from previous mascara files, try skipping the liner, and see how great your lashes look as a stand-alone feature!

So what does skipping the liner do anyway?

When you wear dark liner around your eyes, it can take away from your eyelashes because part of your lashes blend in with your dark lines around your eyes, taking away some of the length and drama to them.

By no means am I anti-eyeliner. I love it. I just want to give you guys some other options you may never have thought of when it comes to mascara.

Hope this has been helpful and informative!

Don’t Overlook This Brand! Surprising quality for insanely cheap!

Hi friends!

Just wanted to do a quick post on a brand I’ve grown to love in the past little while that I used to always overlook. I think the first product I ever bought from them was a grey nail polish with orange duochrome, that was about a year ago, and I really liked it! I only went back to it after my hairdresser recommended their lipgloss as a great soothing lip moisturizer.

And that brand is…

The Mascara Files: No Eyelash Curler? No Problem!

themasscarapost9

Hi Friends!

I’m going to be honest with you today. I really don’t like eyelash curlers. I don’t believe I own one anymore, it’s been about 6 years since I’ve used one, and I honestly don’t regret it. I’ve previously posted about one of my woes with eyelash curlers, well, more about how people USE the eyelash curlers, but hey.

Anyhow this post is actually about a method that can help get you sky high lashes without clamping down on them with a curler. If you have an old credit plastic/cardstock card lying around, use it to help apply your mascara! This works on both top and lower lashes. Just lay your card behind your lashes, and apply your mascara as usual! If you apply your mascara while your top lashes are ON the card, it’ll curl them upwards more than just applying mascara to them!
